A Planet Forms (2022)

I developed this piece in workshop with musicians from Britten SInfonia, as part of their Opus1 scheme.

The piece is inspired by a painting, New World, by my late father, Benjamin Creme , which symbolises the forming process of a new planet, according to Esoteric philosophy. I have attempted to express the elements of this: “gases thrown off by the sun, which gradually coalesce and cool, precipitating downwards from the etheric to the physical plane” — thereby a planet is formed.

A Planet Forms was recorded in October 2022 by Britten Sinfonia’s Miranda Dale, Lindsey Kempley and Iolo Edwards at Stapleford Granary; engineering and mixing by Myles Eastwood.
